There will be some special runners joining you on the course at this year’s Haspa Marathon Hamburg: our Medical Runners.
They are doctors and qualified medical professionals who also happen to be passionate runners. While taking on the marathon themselves, they’ll be keeping an eye out for their fellow runners along the way. If someone needs help, they can assess the situation, provide first aid and step in until further medical support arrives. They’ll also carry basic medical supplies in their running backpacks.
If additional assistance is needed, our Medical Runners can contact the event’s medical coordination team and stay with the runner until the medical or emergency services take over. They are an additional part of the event’s medical support and, importantly, they’ll be right there with you in the field.
You’ll be able to spot them easily: Medical Runners will be wearing running backpacks with a flag attached. If you need help during the race, or notice another runner who might need assistance, don’t hesitate to approach them.
