The end of one marathon marks the start of planning for the next — and 2026 will be extra special: on April 26, 2026, we’ll be celebrating the 40th edition of the Haspa Marathon Hamburg! Registration opens on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at 10:00 a.m.

Alongside the anniversary celebration, a few changes are coming:

The marathon will start one hour earlier — at 8:30 a.m. To make the start more comfortable for everyone, we’re also bringing back a successful concept from the past: just like the 30th edition in 2015, there will once again be two separate starting areas — one on Karolinenstraße and the other on Bei den Kirchhöfen. This split will give runners more space on the course and ensure a more relaxed start.

The half marathon will also get a new format starting in 2026. Due to growing participant numbers and high demand for marathon entries, the half marathon will now take place in the afternoon, starting at 2:00 p.m. This change allows us to welcome more runners and ensures a smoother schedule throughout the day.

There’s also a new starting point for the half marathon: it will begin at Alsterglacis, right next to Dammtor Station. From there, the course follows the path along the Außenalster and finishes at the corner of Karolinenstraße and Lagerstraße. After the official marathon cut-off at 3:00 p.m., the first half marathon finishers will begin arriving.
Both races will have official time limits: six hours for the marathon and two and a half hours for the half marathon.
