The Haspa Marathon Hamburg, Germany’s largest spring marathon, welcomes ESN as its new Official Nutrition Partner starting in 2026. As part of the partnership, ESN will ensure optimal energy and hydration for the 34,000 runners along the course and at the finish line on Sunday, April 26.

Presence at the Expo

In addition to on-course product supply, ESN will present further content and activities as part of the event: An ESN Cheer Zone along the course will provide additional motivation for runners on race day. On Friday and Saturday (April 24–25), athletes can visit the ESN booth at the Marathon Hamburg Expo to learn more about the products and receive personal advice.

Beyond the Haspa Marathon Hamburg, the partnership also includes selected additional running events organized by MHV, such as the Blankeneser Heldenlauf on August 30 and the Köhlbrandbrückenlauf on October 3.

We are currently seeing an increase in fraud attempts related to private race entry transfers. Please be careful and follow the tips below:

• If possible, always pay via PayPal using “Goods and Services.” This option costs about €3–4, but it offers extra protection. If you do not receive the transfer code, you can request a refund through PayPal.

• If you pay by SEPA bank transfer, do not use instant transfer. With a normal bank transfer (next business day), there is usually a short time window (depending on the bank) in which the payment can still be cancelled. This gives you time to check whether you have received the transfer code by email.

• Important: When a race entry is transferred, the new participant receives the transfer code automatically by email within a few minutes. The original participant only needs to enter the email address and confirm the transfer. The event organizer does not need to do anything manually.

• If someone tells you to wait 24 hours or longer for the transfer code, be very careful. This is a common warning sign.

• For extra security, you can ask the original participant for their booking number or registration ID. Together with the participant’s name, the organizer can confirm that the registration is real. Sharing the registration ID is safe, because changes and transfers are only possible through the personal user account or with email confirmation (“Manage registration”).

• All cases of fraud will be reported, and we are already working closely with the police.

Just like last year, we take 6th place in the Marathon Competition Ranking – but this time ahead of Berlin! Although the heat battle there gave us a tiny advantage.

The ranking evaluates the world’s leading marathons based on the performances of top athletes. With this, the Haspa Marathon Hamburg once again confirms its position among the top events for international elite athletes.

The Haspa Marathon Hamburg 2026 has officially sold out. With the last entries for the main marathon race now allocated, all events are fully booked — an impressive seven months before the milestone anniversary edition.

On Sunday, April 26, 2026, up to 34,000 runners will take to the streets of Hamburg: 20,000 in the marathon, 8,000 in the half marathon, and 1,500 relay teams of four runners each. The marathon and relay will start from Karolinenstraße and Bei den Kirchhöfen, while the half marathon begins at Alsterglacis.

The weekend will kick off on Saturday, April 25, with the popular youth race “Das Zehntel – presented by Rewe,” featuring around 12,000 children and teenagers. Altogether,  46,000 participants will be running through the Hanseatic city over the marathon weekend.
